Letitia Lickkit (Amy Grace Laura) is the shiny queen of ASMR youtube and we’re all invited to her party. If you love Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) like I do, you’re in for a relaxingly aural treat with ASMR Party!
The Gryphon Theatre is dripping in gold as Letitia welcomes us excitedly, but quietly, to her party. Each seat has a pair of silent disco headphones on it and upon wearing them, we can hear the pre-show music. The show begins as Letitia walks us through what we will be experiencing this evening, namely, five different parties with unique ASMR triggers in each. Over the course of the show we are guests at a cocktail party, an office party, a tea party, slumber party and a birthday party. Throughout these events, we are hearing the deliciously delicate voice of Letitia Lickkit directly in our ears and experiencing the ASMR up close with a live camera feed. With all this tech, there was bound to be a few hiccups but Amy Grace is such a genuine performer who holds her audience with such warmth that I could’ve sworn any slight malfunction was planned. This warmth also makes us feel like we really are guests at Letitia’s party which helped even further with the ASMR immersion.
I adore ASMR and often use it to help me sleep so I am in the zone listening to Letitia gently tapping, whispering and even slurping in my ear. Yes, we spent part of an evening listening to someone’s eating and drinking noises and it was very enthralling! Speaking of, I was completely drawn in when Letitia began building an office based soundscape using a loop pedal. In fact, whenever the loop pedal was involved I was in tingly heaven. When I left the theatre with my friend we both agreed there can never be too much looping, even if we were blessed with at least three uses of it.
Unfortunately, this was the only showing of ASMR Party! at the 2025 New Zealand Fringe Festival but Amy Grace Laura will be taking the show to the Melbourne Comedy Festival later in the year. If, by chance, it reappears in Wellington soon I would encourage any tingle fiends to book their tickets and also experience what I have dubbed ‘the most relaxing evening at the theatre I’ve ever had.’
